Tremblant Day 1: Drive to Canada

When traveling, typically the best stories about the actual traveling can be summed up as, “It was uneventful.” This was one of those trips that can be summed up exactly like that. Wake up, pack the car, eat oatmeal, drive to another country, hang out and have dinner. Nothing of note, which is exactly how you want a 500 mile drive to be. Just another day at the box factory.

On the drive I told D about my next trip, which is likely going to be Arizona in January. As far as trips go, Arizona in the winter for someone who lives in New Jersey doesn’t rank up there in the “things that suck” list. In fact, pretty much the opposite. She’s looking to come with me on this adventure. We would possibly look to fly out on a Friday evening in order to get a full weekend out of it. She would then WFA (work from Arizona) for 2 days then maybe fly back a day before me.

The usual border queue. Not terrible today.

Got to the border and I will reiterate how awesome it is to have a car with both Canadian and US passports. He asked us 2 questions, then we were on our way:

1. Do you have any gifts?
2. Do you have any guns?

We picked up the boys at a friend’s house outside of Montreal where they were staying with their dad for 2 days before the break. Again, nothing of note other than I got a free espresso out of the deal and it was pretty good. I think we may have had a few cookies too.

We arrived at 4:00 pm. Again, nothing of note, other than the giant snowman on the porch and the reindeer on the roof. Ok, those are there every year, so there really was nothing of note on this one.

And we arrive, our home for the next week.

Hit the cottage and mostly hung around in the living room until dinner. Ribs.

Ribs for dinner!

Then more hanging around. After dinner, the rubber band of the last 10 days snapped back at me, and I felt totally exhausted. Gonna sleep well tonight.

Ski day tomorrow. First of the 18/19 season.
