23 & Sedona 7 – The Last Hurrah

Nothing of note happened this morning before the ride.

We ended up doing a version of the Mescal loop but from the bottom, Western Gateway. We went up Stirrup to Girdner, then to Mescal, Aeirie, Cockscomb, and back on Axis. Long ride but a great way to end the trip.

The Strava link can be found here.

After the ride we head back and start to disassemble the party. Alex & Mark take the rental bikes back and we get in the pool & hot tub. They join us after.

I shower up and pack up my bike.

Then we head to Cottonwood and get dinner at Belfry Brewery. And it’s a very good meal.

Back to the condo to pack up the D’s bike and then wrap up the last night we’re here. We fly out in the morning.

Today was our last hurrah out on the trails. We did another version of the Mescal loop but starting from the bottom this time. Today is the 7th day we’ve been here and the 6th day we’ve ridden. In all, we did 6 rides in Sedona and 1 in Flagstaff. It’s been a great trip. Like all things, however, it must come to an end. And here we are, Thursday night, at that end. The 2 rental bikes have been returned. Our 2 bikes have been packed up. We’re winding out the time now before we have to call it a night and walk out the door one last time. Coming to the end of any great trip is always difficult because you’d love to stay another week. But you also want to sleep in your own bed. And you can’t stay on vacation forever. With the end of any trip like this you walk away with great memories and more plans for the future. Until next time, see you on the trails.
