Randomly Minnesota 3 – Town Walking & Brisket

Sunday’s Plan

It’s a 50/50 day. Start of the day is ours to walk around the city, mostly going around the river. Later we’ll head to Brian’s and hang out at his house and have some brisket, which he’s making just for us being out here. Seems like a good day.

But first, coffee.

Day – Part 1

Then we walked around the river a bit, focusing mostly on the Stone Arch Bridge area which is very cool. You get a view of the new infrastructure as well as the old, which is falling apart on the edges of everything. A lot of this was built with sandstone. Before today, I knew nothing of this rock but now I see it is pretty much the opposite of erosion-proof.

We watched a guy battle with a big fish for a while. He got it, then let it go.

On the other side of the river we walked some paths and checked out more aging history as well as nature. Found a geocache and enjoyed the day.

Grabbed an espresso tonic and tea at FRGMNT, another place that does not seem to have pour-over. No idea where to find one in this town and it makes me thing that I need to create an app to track this.

Crossed the bridge back to our side and hit up Red Cow for lunch, which was pretty good.

Then we went back to the hotel where I took a nap then had a shower.

Day – Part 2

Headed down to Brian’s in an Uber and hung out for about 4 hours with him, Jenny, and her 2 kids. It was a splendid day out and it was nice to just hang outside talking. The morning was busy, the afternoon chill.

Brian made a great brisket which he had cooked for like 16 hours. Hell of an effort there and it was outstanding.

Headed back to the hotel and laid in bed, doing nothing more than that for the day.
