Summer 2020 Family Vacation Camp – Day 11 Last Full Day in North Conway

I start the day back at the coffee shop again, writing up another blog before the day starts. Coffee, blog, and the wonderful world of being connected. Today is the last full day here in North Conway. I get a different muffin today but I forget what it was. I know it was good.

I head back to the hotel and we rinse & repeat, wake up the family, eat fruit for breakfast, do not consume coffee there. I dip out early to try to fix a creak in my bike and it turns out the right crank is loose. I tighten it up and the creak is gone.

This morning the ride is in the same place as yesterday, Marshall Conservation Area. It’s a solid set of trails we can all ride.

Gearing up to ride Marshall Conservation Area again

Unfortunately before long, Zac realizes his chain is about broken in half, so he hobbles through the ride. Shortly after that I get a text from D that Simon has destroyed his derailleur. So we hobble back to the car and call the ride early.

The trails were more or less the same as yesterday but with 2 additions: 2 Up and T-Bone. Both were fine, not worth making a fuss over. All a good part of the system.

So we are back to the hotel early where we head to the pool and eat various leftovers we have in the fridge in the room.

The afternoon plan is to hit Diana’s Baths which is a small hike to a very popular water area. The parking lot is full so we park a mile down the way, where the hikers and climbers for Cathedral Ledge park. Then we walk the mile to the other lot where people are waiting in their cars for 45 minutes to get a parking spot.

The area is cool, super accessible yet seriously awesome. There are a lot of people here of all walks of life, from people legit hiking there to people who bring coolers and lawn chairs. For me, it’s just people enjoying being outside. We hike all the way up to the top, which isn’t very far in the context of what we have done this week.

Lots of people milling about
Taking a break for a snack
Some of the area was obviously man-made

We then cobble our way back to the bottom from rock to rock, across the rocks, on and over the rocks. It’s a fun way to get down.

On the way back to the hotel I stop at Table & Tonic to get a cappuccino which is incredibly good. The espresso there is so-so but this drink is just fabulous. It really hits the spot.

Today is a pretty low-key day, so we have some down time to burn. We’re tired, that’s the reality of the last day of the trip. So D & Simon go to the pool and I stay at the hotel with the 2 older ones and we make sure the beds do not float away. We succeed in that effort.

Dinner tonight is Tuckerman’s Restaurant again, at the overlook again.

And the sunset is amazing.

We end the day with ice cream at Trail’s End again. I get the lemon chip which is a good gamble, really good.

And wrapping up with a last ice cream

We head back to the hotel and play one last round of cards, which D wins. And that is the end of day 11, the last full day in North Conway.
