Sedona 3: The Oprah Sedona Giveaway where YOU ALL GET GREAT TRAILS

I get a great night of sleep. This isn’t something I’ve been able to say a lot lately. With the injury (see here), sleep has been hard to come by, so it’s nice to get a solid night. We eventually get up, have breakfast, hang out at the table and Jim cooks up another loop for the day. We’re out the door by 10:00.

We start by going down the road into town and taking a right on 179 to the 3rd circle, at which point we head into the trails. We start with Broken Arrow then take a detour to Submarine Rock, where we hang out a bit and take lots of pictures.

A gorgeous day awaits us

We roll back and continue to Chicken Point which is where you get another great view and can see the fabled White Line trail. You can check Youtube for this but it’s one of the most preposterous trails I’ve ever seen in person. Check the images below for the vague white line on the side of the mountain.

I also take a moment to call and make dinner reservations for tonight at 5:00.

We then take Little Horse all the way to HT Trail, which brings us under 179 at which point we stop for lunch, as Alex is starting to feel a migraine coming on.

After lunch we keep on with this to Slim Shady, which brings us to the target for the day, Hiline. Hiline is a double black diamond, and you earn all of what you get here. Going up is a lot of work, and we all end up walking some. Then you get great, I mean fantastic, views. Then you go down some amazing trails, some of which are so precarious you need to walk them.

At the bottom we hop on Baldwin and take the trail to cross the river.

After the river we climb up (ok we walk) Ridge then take Sketch to the end, then hop on a few small trails to the road and back to the condo.

In all this is another amazing day. We’re done by 3:30 and once again, we are cooked. The Strava link can be found here.

Once again we wrap the day with the hot tub, a shower, a near nap, and some hanging around. But dinner tonight is at 5:00 so we don’t have too much time to burn.

Quick jump in the hot tub

For dinner we hit up the The Golden Goose American Grill for more burger action. The Google review:

This place was tough to get a reservation for but once we did it was well-worth it. Mind you, this is coming after a 5 hour day of biking but the food really hit the spot and the price for Sedona was fair. Service was good and overall it was a very good dinner. Would go back again and would recommend.

And smashing it through with a burger

We have some extra time tonight so we head into town and do a little shopping, buying something for my mom and some hippie cream ointment for my injured calf, which is doing fine but this trip is a bit of abuse on it. We also buy a magnet from Sedona.

The cactus!

Back at the condo we hang out briefly before crashing early for the night. We are collectively pretty tired after these first 2 days. Sleep is a good thing.
